Catastrophic Leave Bank
Our Catastrophic Leave Bank was created in July 2001 as a way to provide assistance for TUTA members who suffer a "momentous, tragic, sudden event marked by effects ranging from extreme misfortune to disaster."
If a TUTA member or a unit member's family member suffers a catastrophic illness or injury, they must first use all their regular sick leave. Before the sick leave is completely exhausted, they may complete a short application form and provide information from their doctor. The CLB committee reviews the application and notifies the applicant of the decision. All records are confidential.

- All TUTA members are eligible to participate
- You must complete a simple CLB form and turn it in. Contributions shall be made between July 1 and October 1 of each school year.
- You need to contribute one day (6.5 hours) of sick leave, which is the minimum requirement required by Ed Code 44043.5. If the number of days in the Bank at the beginning of the school year exceeds 500, no additional contribution is required for current CLB members. (Currently our CLB has almost 900 days.)
- TUTA members who have contributed a day to the CLB may apply to withdraw days when facing critical medical issues which incapacitate them (or a family member) for over 10 consecutive days and their personal sick leave has been exhausted.
